The digitalization has enabled us to alter photographs in a million different ways until it looks completely different from what the camera captured. But if an image that began as a conventional photograph is digitally altered - colors are changed, pixels distorted, formats cropped, filters added - is it then still a photograph? ALTERED explores this question with the intent to see how far the altering can go before we need to call it something else. Is it photo-based art or even digital graphics? The book does not answer the question, it visualizes the question and uses images and quotes as guidance for how to think.
